PRIMARY CARE
Strengthening healthcare’s foundation and ensuring equitable access for all communities
The Opportunity
Primary care is the bedrock of our healthcare system, yet it remains critically underfunded— it receives just 5 to 7 cents of every healthcare dollar spent in the U.S., far below the levels seen in nations with better health outcomes. This underinvestment limits innovation, stymying opportunities to leverage technology to enhance care and widen access, particularly in underserved communities where primary care is essential to reducing health disparities.
As demand for innovative care models grows, primary care stands at a tipping point. The pandemic accelerated adoption of virtual care, but sustaining this momentum requires strategic investment and infrastructure. With the potential for technology to improve access, affordability, and equity, primary care is ripe for digital health innovation.
